IMSA has a special opportunity for Illinois computer using educators willing to partner with their school Librarian / Media Specialist to take a free 6-week online course, in 21st Century Information Fluency skills. This course is for Librarian-Teacher teams interested in learning how to search, evaluate, and integrate Internet resources.
WHO: Illinois Librarians & Teachers from the same school, willing to work together online and in class to teach 21st Century Information Fluency skills as part of content curriculum.
WHAT: Join an online community focused on 21st Century Information Fluency skills. You will improve your efficiency when searching for information on the Internet. You will learn to evaluate and cite Internet resources. Working with your partner, you will create an Internet WebList and Lesson plan. Your work will be recognized and published by the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy.
WHEN: The course begins October 14, 2003 and concludes November 25, 2003.
WHERE: Online, using the Blackboard teaching environment. Class will be available 24/7 within a weekly assignment schedule. The course community, and all resources will remain available to participants after the course ends.
HOW: If you have a reliable dial up or high speed Internet connection at school you can take this class. You should be comfortable using productivity software and your Internet browser. Netscape 7.0 or Internet Explorer 5+ are recommended. (It is also recommended that you Internet access at home and at school).
CDPU CREDITS: Online participants earn 36 CDPUs (eligible for the 25% Carey House requirement) for committing 6+ hours a week for six weeks.
