In both Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 worlds, before information is used or cited, it is important to check out its online references: who links to it and what links the author has placed on the page.
In a Web 2.0 World, most links represent the community that follows an author and the people that the author follows.
Links (e.g., friends) are fairly easy to locate, but may be difficult to use to evaluate credibility. The communities in which established experts are found are more likely to contain credible content. Unknown communities should be approached skeptically.
