There are Three Ways to Search Online

Three Ways to Search: Search Engine, Subject Directory, Browsing

Use a Search Engine when

You know keywords for the search

Use a Subject Directory or Tag Cloud when

You are looking for ideas (brainstorming) and do not need a specific page

You don't know any effective keywords for searching

Browse when

You need to check out a specific page (search results)

You have clear links to follow (homing in)

You need to know more information about the page (e.g., the name of the author, publisher, date and other evidence to evaluate)
