About this tool

Create a CSE formatted citation for a Webpage by filling in as many boxes as you can. In some cases, information may not be available. If so, leave those fields blank.

General Format for Name-Year Webpage Citation:

Title of Homepage. Date of publication. Edition. Place of publication: publisher; [date updated; date accessed]. Notes.

Formatting is based on: CSE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers (8th Edition). Chicago (IL): Council of Science Editors; c2006-2014.

Publication Date

Follow this format: Year Month Date (don't use any punctuation--the wizard will add that). Use 3-letter abbreviations for all months. For a range of dates, separate the years with a hyphen. If no date of publication is found, use the copyright date (if available), preceded by ā€œcā€. Include the URL in the notes.

The publisher is the organization or person responsible for posting the information. For self-hosted sites (e.g., blogs), the author is usually the publisher.
